What is Contemporary Art? Workshop for Kids!

Art is a universal form of expression. Art allows us to communicate even before we could talk!

Kids have a natural instinct when it comes to art, and their understanding and perspective of it is unique and valuable.

But how close and in contact with contemporary art are our youth? How much do they know about the different spaces where art happens?

At Forward Contemporary we bring the experience of standing before contemporary art, discussing it and understanding it right to our local youth. We invite you to join our Art Manager, Andrea Freeman, to engage in art and create together as a community!

Contemporary art is plural and welcoming!

Be prepared to learn the meaning and use of contemporary art and create your very own masterpiece! Q & A with Special Guest Artist in show, Jeffrey Terreson!

We look forward to seeing you at the gallery!

Jeffrey Terreson: Winter Show

Jeffrey Terreson was born (1955) and raised in Bedford, NY where he still resides. Drawing from the legacy of abstract expressionism, Terreson’s powerful imagery embraces the process of painting through the use of vibrant pigment, wax with other mixed media and found objects. His unique process achieves an uninhibited textural style. Terreson gathers inspiration from some of the 20th century’s most ground breaking post-war contemporary artists, the spiritual essence of the east and deep roots of nature to cultivate a technique that has led to breathtaking wood panels, painting 5-15 pieces at a time, vibrant with color, depth, and a seductive tactile quality. Terreson’s work can be found in more than 150 private collections, including the United Nations, Mobil Oil, and fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
